About

I’m AmarBego. I work at Velosolutions during the day and build my own things at night.

The night side is mostly rScoop, GitTop, VUP, and vuru. That means a lot of Rust, some Odin, and more platform-specific code than I would have signed up for if anyone had warned me. This site is where I keep notes about all of it.

Outside the editor I watch UFC and boxing, which is the closest thing I have to a hobby that does not involve a compiler.

Things I Like

Rust, Odin, static binaries, plain text, Void Linux, native desktop apps that respect the platform, software you can read end to end, small tools that do one thing, and code that survives being left alone for a year.

Things I Don’t

Electron for anything that should be 5MB, Python dependency trees, npm dependency trees, abstractions that exist so nobody has to learn anything, “cross-platform” that means “uniformly bad on every platform”, subscription software for problems that were solved in 1998, and meetings that should have been a commit message.
